possible resource

Another pastor told me that the conference office in Canton for the Methodist Church has a media center that any church can have a membership to (costs $35 plus cost to mail back) and then you can borrow whatever curriculm and materials they have. You can check out their library at:

They seem to have a fair amount of stuff, but not just a whole lot of newer stuff, but it is cheaper than buying things to use once or twice.

Net Results

hey everybody,
I look forward to meeting together next week again. I am bringing homemade dessert for everyone (homemade, but not from my home).
My question: there is a Lutheran Church nearby hosting a small group and discipleship seminar in May through Net Results. Nicole, Adrienee, and I are hungry to learn all we can about life groups for St Paul, but I guess I am skeptical about Net Results (Bill Tenny-Brittian). ANY THOUGHTS?

Suggested Materials

I am hoping all of you with significant small group experience (that means anyone who has been working with small groups longer than I have) would recommend some materials to me. What are your thoughts on the best materials for these three topics: Personal Finances, Marriage and Parenting.

I am trying to add materials to our small group offerings that have a proven track record. We are in the infant stages of this ministry so the quality of the study greatly influences the success of the group.

What have you used? What have your groups found to be the most beneficial and life changing? There seems to be limitless material available but it can't all be terrific!

I'm looking forward to your insights!

Starter Group Material

Hello Small Talkies,

John Bush and I have been emailing back and forth lately about the new small group DVD material out called Re-Group by Henry Cloud, Bill Donahue and John Townsend. I am in the process of having a brand new group test it in preparation of rolling it out as our official 8-week starter study that we would provide to new groups beginning at our March 29th GroupLink.

I like the material and how it leads a new small group into becomming a cohesive group. I tried to review the material through the lens of a brand new small group leader and a person new to group life in general. I think it makes it easy to get everyone on the same page with their expectations of group life and their responsibilities to the group as a whole.

As I get feedback from our leaders I will keep you posted. Have any of you had the opportunity to review the material? I would be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Remember lunch on the 27th!

i'm blogging from egypt

Yes, mainly to just be able to say it, I'm actually sitting in Luxor, Egypt, overlooking the Luxor Temple...blogging. Weird, huh?

Things are going great. Our teams begins ministering at the orphanage tomorrow. In the meantime its been mostly travel (including a 12-hour train ride last night). A couple of hours ago we took a boat ride on the Nile river (on a felucca). It's sheer madness that I'm actually in Egypt right now, riding boats on the Nile, climbing on pyramids...

We're all very tired but safe and healthy. We're excited to meet and minister the orphans.

More updates to come (but probably not before Friday). Thanks for praying for us.

Gotta go.

Welcome Back

Hello Small Talkers,

Glad to see you back and I hope you will utilize this venue. We all have so much to share and I am looking forward to learning what God is doing in our ministries.

Please keep John Bunn and a group of six others from NewPointe in your prayers as they travel to Egypt for a short term missions trip. They are leaving today and have a full week of ministry ahead of them.

Teresa and I are planning to attend the Drive Conference (www.driveconference.org) May
5-7 in Alpharetta, GA. Are any of you planning to attend? Let us know so we can perhaps do some planning together.

Have a great week and stay in touch,

Scott B
